What is a successful person?

OK, question for you. What is a successful person? Or, what makes a person successful.

I am not a successful person. That jealous beta bitch I was talking about the other day saw me as a successful person and hated me for it. However, I do not see myself as a success. I do not meet my criteria by any means.

What is a successful person then?

It depends. If you feel like you’re living the life you want to live, you are successful. I am far from it. I want to be running businesses. I’d love to create jobs where people are excited to come to work. That’s what would make me a successful person.

So, I’m not just a composer/artist. I see myself as a lot more than that. Skitz and I both have day jobs where we’re working for other people. I’d like to be making enough money where neither of us have to do that.

Then why did that guy hate you?

He hated me because I’m good with money. He dismisses my hard work as luck, then complained about how unfair his life was. Cry me a fucking river. I already told that loser that I used to live in a car, and I actually stayed on several of my friends’ couches. Some of them are now fans of my band, and yes, I’ll be dedicating songs to them in the near future.

So, it’s not like I was born into money. I’m a working class guy who grew up near oil refineries. I had to learn really fast how to talk my way out of a fight, and also how to throw a punch if I absolutely had to.

I was really adamant about making money fast so my son wouldn’t have to grow up like that. By the time he was in high school, we were living in a pretty good area.

So your definition of a successful person may vary. That’s fine. Success is relative. I believe I’ll be successful when the band is touring the world and my side businesses are employing artists. I would love to be employing scores of people full-time in jobs they dreamed of. I’d love to make people’s dreams come true.

What comes next once you’re successful?

Well, I’ll get to that point when I get there. And yes, it’s a “when,” not an “if.” I strongly believe you need to have that mentality if you want to be truly successful.

But I’ve already thought ahead and I want to be a great composer. Not good. Great. I want to die knowing that some talented kid one hundred years from now will have my bust on his piano next to busts of Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, and Chopin. Imagine that! That would truly be a dream come true.

I wrote this waltz back in 2014 and we released it on our first album. So yes, I’ve been doing my homework and studying the masters like a madman. These orchestral compositions are only going to get better.

I sincerely hope you all become successful in your lifetimes. Imagine a world where people achieve their dreams. That’s the world I want to live in, and I will take steps to make it happen.
