Intermittent fasting works!

You’ve probably heard of intermittent fasting by now. Let me assure you, intermittent fasting works!

I just wrote an article on burning belly fat. I left out one very important trick. But I feel like this needs a separate article because it’s so important.

What is intermittent fasting?

There are several types. I’m only going to go over the one that works for me. If it works for me, it should work for you.

I eat only two meals a day. I never snack. You’ll never catch me snacking. Ever. I eat dinner anywhere from 5 to 7PM, but let’s just say 6PM. I eat lunch anywhere from 11AM to 1PM, but we’ll just say Noon to make it easy. That means, I go 18 hours every single day without eating anything.

Those eighteen hours give my body eighteen hours to burn fat, because food isn’t replenishing it. As a result, I simply don’t excess fat.

Yes, exercise is great. But when you pass the age of thirty, give or take a few years depending on a bunch of factors, your metabolism slows down. You probably remember when you were younger, you could get away with having a bad diet. When you get older, you can’t. That’s just a harsh fact of life.

What should I eat?

If you get your calories from carbs, intermittent fasting most likely won’t work. You’ll be so hungry that you’ll catch yourself snacking. So much for intermittent fasting. You’re better off being a carnivore. But if you have moral or religious reasons for not eating meat, then I’m not going to argue politics/religion with you. You’ll have to bug a vegetarian or a vegan for that magic formula where you can get your calories from proteins and fats.

So, eat proteins and fats. Limit your carbs. Fat is great because your body converts fats to energy much slower than carbs. That way, you’re not going to give in to your hunger. I can tell you this as a former hypoglycemic.

How often should I intermittent fast?

It depends on you. I do it at least three times a week, but usually every day in a week.

If I’m going to do a max lift in something, I’ll eat a third meal that day. If I don’t have a max lift that day, I intermittent fast.

I don’t do max lifts that often any more. Maybe once a month now. So if you run into me, I’m more than likely intermittent fasting. You’ll notice I have a high energy level when I’m awake.

Other benefits of intermittent fasting

You’ll have a higher energy level. Like I already said, it’s great for fat burning. And probably most important of all – you learn to control your diet instead of your diet controlling you.
