Be good to yourself

be good to yourself

Be good to yourself. Admit your dreams. Then pursue them.

Life is short. Don’t waste it. You have a lot less time than you realize.

I’ve worked in a retirement home before. Yes, one of those places where old folks go to die. You check in, but you don’t check out.

I’ve seen the ones who die bitter. And I’ve talked to the ones I wanted to emulate. The fun ones, the ones who really lived.

They had better self-talk than the ones who died bitter. They treated themselves better.

I know plenty of people in their 40s and 50s and I can tell you who lived and who didn’t. Who will die with regrets and who will get the most out of life.

These are lessons you need to learn young. And you need to act on them sooner than later.

I’ve seen too many young people waste their youths with anxiety and depression.

Be good to yourself – time off

Take time off. If you can’t afford nice vacations, then scour the internet for local deals. The world is beautiful. I’m sure there’s something not too far from you worth seeing.

Eat right. Your body needs nutrients. Not garbage. I’ve written articles after articles about health for a reason. We have enough worries already. Anything you can do to minimize your chances for bad health is a good thing.

You don’t even have to go overboard. The 80/20 diet is fine for most people. Maybe you’re one of the unlucky ones who has to go 90/10. Fine. Do it for yourself. You should always think “be good to yourself.” Make it your morning mantra if you have to.

Relationships

Treasure the ones who treat you well. Ditch the ones who don’t. The good ones should be rewarded. The bad ones should be ignored.

You’re too valuable of a person to take bullshit. And if you take the good ones for granted, they’ll go away.

Get yourself a dog. Dogs are great. They love as it’s built into their DNA.

No matter how shitty your day went, your dog will still love you. Spoil them. They deserve it.

Nurture your soul

Whereas art may not bring you monetary value, what good is humanity without it? Art is a reflection of us.

Choose something you love. Be passionate about it. It could be anything from music to painting to writing a blog. Whatever you choose, pour your heart into it. And let it nurture your soul.

I’m an optimist. I’ve been through plenty of bullshit. I’ve seen people break and lose it. I never wanted to be like them.

We have free will, my friends. But, you really have to be good to yourself. Most people are copycats. If you abuse yourself, they’ll abuse you. However, if you love yourself, they’ll love you. Weird how it works, but that’s how it is. I’ve seen it a million times.

I love the Pacific. Taken from a cruise ship. I think this was in Hawaii in 2016 but I don’t remember. We took so many pictures and didn’t mark all of them.
