Why is a 24 hour fast good for you? I’ll explain.

Most of my life, I’ve suffered from hypoglycemia. Basically, the food pyramid is a lie. It’s designed by food companies to get you to purchase their shitty food that your body doesn’t even like.

Since I’ve changed my diet, I defeated hypoglycemia once and for all. I couldn’t go ten hours without eating. Now, I intermittent fast all the time and I feel great.

A few times a month, I’ll even go on a 24 hour fast. Afterwards, I’ll feel great.

The benefits of a 24 hour fast

Digestion

One thing that the food pyramid experts get right – meat takes longer to digest than plant products. Well, that’s not such a bad thing. That simply means you don’t have to eat as often.

When I’m consuming mostly meat, I only have to eat once or twice a day. But a 24 hour fast is especially great for a diet like mine. We’re not Paleo, but along the same lines.

A 24 hour fast will help you digest your meat and you’ll feel great afterwards.

Energy boost

Well, this is really related to the last point. Everyone I know who has done it has claimed the same thing – you get an energy boost afterwards. So it’s not just me.

Actually, if you’re curious, ask people. Find out who does it and straight up ask them if they got an energy boost after they’ve done it.

Every single person I know said that they not only got an energy boost, but it also made them feel better.

Self-control

You’re in control of your body. You’re not giving in to cravings.

I see it all the time. Fat people will tell me that they have so much trouble losing weight. And when they think that I’m not looking, they’ll chew on something.

That has got to be the most stupid thing on the planet. If I don’t see them eat, that doesn’t mean their body is taking in food. I’m not God. I don’t make them fat. They’re making themselves fat. How is sneaking food while I’m not looking helping their bodies?

When you’re on a 24 hour fast, it’s you who’s in control. You’re telling your body that you’re not going to give in to cravings.

You’ll also find that this translates to other parts of your life. You might find this weird telling you this, but watch. When you can control your body, you’ll also learn that you’ll also control other aspects of your life better.

Fat burning

I’m almost 50. My body isn’t what it used to be.

I used to heal like Wolverine. Well, not quite that good, but still, I could take some serious hits.

Not anymore. My metabolism isn’t what it used to be either. I have to work harder to get the same results as I did when I was in my 20s and 30s. That’s just part of life though, not at all a complaint.

I’m a realist. That means, my diet has to be better than it was in my 20s and 30s. Also, I fast regularly. That helps big time.

You’ll find this type of fasting does wonders for fat burning.

Risks

Of course there are risks. If you have hypoglycemia, you shouldn’t even try it. Solve that problem before you do this.

Also, you need to drink water. When doing the fast, I still drink black coffee. But I also drink tons of water. Just be sure you are drinking tons of water as well.

Both water and coffee have no calories so be sure to stay hydrated, especially during a fast.

A short afterword

I’ve gotten to the point where I’ll even run while on the fast. I won’t lift weights though. I haven’t gotten that awesome yet.

OK, this is completely off topic. I’m often inspired during a fast and took this random picture of my colored pencil castle. If you want to make a miniature castle, this guy Bruce Hirst sells these molds where you can make this stuff out of plaster.

He’s a pretty cool guy too. I’ve only talked to him via telephone and also by email. I haven’t met him in real life. Their customer service is solid.

This isn’t a plug and I’m not making a penny for saying this. I’m just doing it because I like the guy and love his molds.

I’m in the middle of a 24 hour fast right now and I woke up at 6AM like always. I’ve already written two blog posts and drew that sketch that’s in the previous blog post. It’s still morning and I’ve played a board game with my wife and after I meet with Allie for another live model drawing, I’ll go running.

I’m telling you, this stuff works. You’ll have endless energy!
