Keeping off the weight

Note – this is advice specifically for people keeping off the weight. For those of you who want to bulk up, skip this article completely.

So, you’re now slim. Everything I told you worked. You’re exactly where you want to be. Now what?

Well, I assume you want to focus on keeping off the weight. You asked the right person.

I’m old, not getting any younger, and want to stay slim

If you’re young, you have an advantage over me. You can sin more. The older you get, the less you can get away with bad habits since your body simply doesn’t recover as fast. That’s just a hard ass fact of life.

Since I’m older, I have to do everything right. So if you’re old like me, you better follow this to a T.

Eat only two meals a day, no snacking

Cut out snacking completely. From the time you get up until the time you go to sleep, you will put food in your mouth twice a day. No cheating allowed.

If you snack, that’s your meal. And if you’re hungry later on, tough shit. You shouldn’t have had that snack.

Two meals a day works because it gives your body plenty of time to digest your food.

Limit your food choices to healthy foods

Get off of processed foods completely. How? Come on over to my place and I’ll show you that I have a full refrigerator and freezer, yet, there’s not one piece of processed food in the house. If it doesn’t spoil, we don’t eat it because if it doesn’t spoil, there’s a reason for that.

Our freezer is full of dead animal flesh. Our refrigerator has plenty of fruits and vegetables and also last night’s leftovers.

We still eat rice and pasta. However, we only eat one meal with carbs. The other meal doesn’t have carbs (besides fruits & vegetables, but those are fine. More on that another day).

Even the one meal a day we eat carbs, you’ll notice the rice or pasta servings aren’t that big. The meat or fish dwarfs the carb portion. We’ll have a green at least once a day. Our greens consist of quality salads, broccoli, spinach, kale, or cabbage.

Our green portions are also quite large. A little trick we like doing – steam the kale or the spinach, then add olive oil and Bragg’s raw apple cider vinegar.

After you’ve been eating healthy for awhile, you start to enjoy healthy food more. That will taste delicious to you. If you’ve been eating garbage all your life, it will take awhile for your taste buds to adjust to real food. You’ll just have to take my word for this.

I’m in my mid-40s and have a six-pack

Keeping off the weight

That’s me earlier this year. And no, no Photoshop

Damn right! I work out hard, but there are guys in my gym who do circles around me. Yet, I’m older than they are and still have a six-pack.

Why is that? I have a better diet.

You gotta do both. Exercise is great! I’m not by any means discounting it. However, once you reach 30+, diet becomes even more important than exercise.

I wish it wasn’t so. But what I want and how it is, well, in this case, are two different things. That’s just another hard ass fact of life. The older you get, the more important diet becomes.

When losing fat, fat comes off where and when it wants to. Isolation exercises in terms of getting fat off specific parts don’t really work that well. They make more sense in theory than in reality. Kind of like communism.

That’s the trick for keeping off the weight

Eat two meals a day. Exercise. Eat carbs only once a day. Eat your veggies, especially your greens. No snacking. And stay away from processed foods completely. Don’t even buy them.

Oh, and drink lots of water. Also, a little trick – if you’re really struggling not to snack, have a cup of coffee. Coffee is a pretty good appetite suppressant.
