It amazes me how much people love to whine when they’re “trying” to lose weight.
My mother died several years ago. I started drinking too much. And eating too much. And I put on a lot of weight.
Then one day, I looked in the mirror and didn’t like what I saw. So, I decided I’d get into weightlifting. One thing led to another and I also hired a health coach who put me on a special diet.
I first got ridiculously strong. Then I lost the extra fat. It wasn’t that hard.
OK, it was hard. I had to completely change my lifestyle. I had to give up most of my drinking. And I had to cut 90% of the carbs out of my diet. I still ate carbs. It’s just the portions were cut drastically. And sometimes, I’ll have a meal without any.
“But what about when you’re so hungry?”
What about it? Suck it up!
My word. You’re a grown up. Exercise some self-restraint.
Look. I beat hypoglycemia. I don’t have any magical powers nor do I have any genetic advantages over anyone else. I’m just a normal dude with a strong work ethic. If I can defeat hypoglycemia, you can refrain from snacking for a few hours.
If you absolutely can’t control yourself, I’ve heard of people eating six small meals a day and losing weight. How effective is that? I have no idea. I’ve never tried it. But I have a friend who swears by it and he’s now slim. He used to be fat.
I do know my methods work because I lived them. I still live them. A diet is something you have to stick with for the rest of your life. You can’t just lose the weight and go back to what you were doing before, and expect the weight to magically stay off.
One more hot tip. Drink water as your main drink. Cut soda completely out of your diet and enjoy water.
The weird thing is, you’ll start really liking water. You not only get used to it. You actually start to enjoy it.
I also started liking black coffee. I look forward to the morning coffee as we get the good stuff.
