My other site, Opium Tales, houses my fiction. So yeah, I write both music and short stories. I haven’t decided what to do with my short stories yet. For now, I just write and put them all online. I’ll eventually do something with them.
It’s funny since we’re releasing the song of the same title as a single in a few months. Siren’s Song is a short story I wrote long after I wrote this song and it pretty much has nothing to do with the song.
I took the concept of the Ancient Greek siren and gave it a more modern feel. No, not 21st century, but close enough. I made the protagonist an Irish immigrant from the time period when lots of Irish folk came to America.
Of everything I’ve ever written, these are my favorite deaths. They’re just weird how I wrote them.
Why would anyone use Humpty Dumpty as a television pilot? Well, that’s what I did.
Unfortunately, the company went out of business before we got a pilot released. Long story that I’ll leave for another day.
However, I’m quite proud of the story itself. When I get another production company off the ground, this will more than likely be the pilot. And yes, it will be pretty close to the short story.
I made the title character evil, instead of a victim of an accident. It’s so much more fun that way.
Princess for the Night
If you’ve followed Astral Eyes, you probably know the song Up in Flames. It’s about a dragon that falls in love with his virgin sacrifice.
Well, Princess for the Night is its prequel. I get to develop the virgin character before she gets sacrificed. And, she’s quite fun. She’s got spunk.
We based the cover art of our debut album to the song Up in Flames. So, you already know how the story ends. She ends up getting away on the dragon and turns on the villagers.
You just need to know what led up to it. And, that’s what this story’s about.
The Voodoo Sex Shop
I’ve always been fascinated with the Caribbean. Pretty much everything about it. I love going there as an adult.
As a kid, I loved the Disney ride Pirates of the Caribbean. I was pleasantly surprised that Disney made a pretty good movie out of the ride. Of course none of the sequels lived up to the original. But that’s another rant for another day.
Now voodoo, it’s just so Heavy Metal. Little Dolls from Ozzy Osbourne’s Blizzard of Ozz and Voodoo from Black Sabbath’s The Mob Rules are both about voodoo. So are about a thousand other Metal tunes. Those two songs just happen to be from two of my all-time favorite albums.
So of course, I had to feature voodoo in one of my fiction short stories. Oh, I almost forgot. My favorite Tales from the Crypt featured voodoo. The one with a fully nude Vanity, who I absolutely loved. When I saw her do her nude scene, I immediately thought that she was physically the best looking woman I’ve seen. Wow!
If you have no idea what I’m talking about, believe me, that episode is well worth looking up. You also get to see Whoopi Goldberg as a voodoo priestess. And that episode has a few twists.
Anyways, my piece. I don’t care how bad ass you think you are. Don’t fuck with a voodoo guy.
Those four are my favorite pieces of my fiction site. I’ll have a lot coming since I wrote all these television episodes that never got published. Long story short, I wanted to co-produce them because writers don’t make shit. I wasn’t going to pour my heart into something only to make someone else rich.
I just have a lot on my plate right now. My priority right now is the band, and it’s taking most of my free time. I’m currently working on a piece I’ll get orchestrated in the Czech Republic.
Give these pieces a read and definitely bookmark my fiction site. I’m quite proud of my short story writing.
