Why we market to a niche audience

OK, we don’t really market. I know very little about business and even less about marketing. We don’t use a sales funnel. I actually fucking hate those things. If you sign up for our mailing list, we simply let you know when our new videos are out and we’ll send you our tour dates, and also let you know when our next album’s coming out.

We don’t beg for sales or for donations or any of that bullshit. If you don’t like our music, whatever. The thing is, we already know people like our music because people are buying it.

Our marketing is pretty simplistic. I blog. We have a website. We have links to the website with a few articles on there and links to where you can buy our music, like iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, and physical CDs at CD Baby. And we have a YouTube channel. Then I tweet shit every once in awhile. I let people know what we’re doing.

That’s it. That’s as deep as we get into marketing. And guess what? It’s working. You know why? Because our music is good. It’s not just good. It’s actually pretty fucking amazing. We combine Romantic era Classical music with Metal. Nobody else has done that before. Quite possibly it’s because nobody else can.

Write music for ourselves

We write music for ourselves. We write music that WE would like. And note that we write music that WE would buy. We blog & YouTube, or if you want to call it marketing, we market to a niche audience. We know we’re not going to win over people who like brain dead bullshit music. Chances are, if you’re on this site, you’re way more intelligent than the average person. You like good music. You are either artistically inclined, or you can appreciate good art. You’re an interesting person. You are original. You think for yourself instead of just following what everyone else is doing. You’re the type of person who thinks that you could succeed at something.

And you know what? You will. Henry Ford said that if you think you can or think you can’t, either way, you’re right.

That’s the niche audience we market for, if you even call this marketing. I don’t know. Is it marketing? We blog. We’re going to be making YouTube videos about whatever we feel like talking about. And that’s pretty much it.

You know we released one album so far. What you don’t know yet is we’re already working on the second album and that will be coming out early next year. OK, now you know that.

We’ll share our strategies

If you’re a fellow artist/musician/band, I’ll be more than happy to fill you in on everything we did. Well, I just told you what we did. Everything. You now know our business model, if you could even call it a business model. I know there’s some business guy out there who’s thinking “what a fucking idiot!” and you know what? I don’t care. I’m going to sell more music than he will.

Astral Eyes is gonna be HUGE!!! Anyone with a brain already knows it. Everyone felt it when we were making Creature of the Night. There was a feeling in the air like this was it. This is a song that people are going to like, and I can’t really put to words how awesome being on that set was. It was magical. Pure magic.
